Clarke Reflects on Boxing Day Win

Hinckley AFC midfielder Ross Clarke praised the way the team played as ‘a unit’ in their 2-0 Boxing Day win over Nuneaton Griff.

It wasn’t a classic by any stretch of the imagination, but Marco Adaggio’s brace either side of half time ensured Hinckley won their eleventh game from twelve, and Clarke says the team are all working for each other.

‘It was a scrappy game today, but we’re all playing as a unit. The defence is looking strong, the midfield are controlling the game, everyone’s grafting for each other and we’re getting through the games.’

Since his arrival at the club, Clarke has struck up a strong partnership with Nathan Walker in the middle of the park. ‘I’ve known Nathan since before I came here, he’s one of the players that I knew before I arrived. We get on well off the pitch; on the pitch we work together well, speaking and talking to each other a lot.

‘I get along with everyone. The vibe’s good in the changing room, obviously we’re twelve games unbeaten now and everything’s good.’

The former Sutton Coldfield man also explained what it’s like to play on Boxing Day. ‘I enjoy it. I’ve grown up with football since I was four or five, and I call it ‘Football Day’ rather than Boxing Day! I’ll go home, go to the pub and hope the Villa win!’
