Twelve Days of Christmas: July

Twelve Days of Christmas: July

As we continue our review of 2014, the monthJJ penalty first match of July will always be a memorable one for supporters of Hinckley AFC.

Five days into the month, we played our first game in a 4-2 win at landlords Heather St John’s, in which JJ Melligan scored the club’s first goal.

An 11-1 win at Bartley Green Illey followed, before our first home match resulted in a respectable 2-0 defeat to Conference North side Tamworth.

That night, we found out our opening league fixture would be away at Southam United on Saturday 2nd August, and our first competitive home match would be against Uttoxeter Town three days later.

We then found out our FA Vase opponents (Tipton Town away), announced another triple signing (Greg Webb, Chris Sockett and Lewis Gorle) and released details of our inaugural season’s kit.

Our next two friendlies saw Bedworth United (in a match that was abandoned after 70 minutes) and Sutton Coldfield Town (a 3-3 draw) visit St John’s Park, before a 3-3 draw against Bromyard Town and the Supporters Direct Shield match against AFC Rushden and Diamonds ended our first pre-season campaign.
