Match Preview: Alvis Sporting (a)

After setting a new Midland Football League record lastAlvis Sporting Club week, Hinckley AFC will aim to extend their unbeaten run to 21 at Alvis Sporting tomorrow, kick off 3pm.

AFC now top the Midland League First Division after they beat Coventry Copsewood last weekend and Highgate United were beaten at home by Cadbury Athletic.

And with Highgate taking on fellow title contenders Bromsgrove Sporting tomorrow, Carl Abbott’s side will have the chance to strengthen their position at the summit of the league.

In contrast, tomorrow’s hosts have lost their lastHinckley AFC badge fourteen league games, a run stretching back to 4th October’s win over Littleton, and were beaten 3-0 by fellow strugglers Pelsall Villa last week. They sit nineteenth in the league, three points above Pelsall.

Should they play tomorrow, Sam Arnold, Tyrone Clarke-O’Connell and JJ Melligan will make their 30th appearances for the club, with only Nathan Walker having reached that landmark so far.

And tomorrow’s game could also see a return to Alvis for Jack Hartopp, Oli Basham and Michael Healy, who all joined AFC from Alvis earlier this season.

Due to their Green Lane ground not having the floodlights required for step six, Alvis are currently groundsharing at Southam United, Banbury Road, Southam, Warwickshire, CV47 2BJ. The ground is on the main road, the A423 Banbury Road.
