Match Preview: Heather St John’s (h)

There will be a very homely feel about tomorrow’s MidlandHinckley AFC badge League First Division match as tenants Hinckley AFC take on landlords Heather St John’s at St John’s Park, kick off 3pm.

Heather will have the away dressing room on this occasion, in contrast to the previous two occasions on which the sides have met, including Hinckley’s first ever match on 5th July.

A JJ Melligan brace helped Hinckley to a 4-2 victory that day, but it was honours even in the league fixture between the sides in August’s torrential rain, when Mitch Woodbine’sHeather St John's late strike cancelled out Sean Williams’ opener for Hinckley.

Currently sitting seventeenth in the league with 32 points, Heather were hammered 7-1 by Coventry Copsewood yesterday and have won nine of their 32 league games. They also reached the Quarter Finals of the Les James Challenge Cup, before being beaten by league rivals Southam United.

In second place, Hinckley are unbeaten in 25 following yesterday’s 2-2 draw at top of the table Highgate United and are hoping to finish in a top four place in order to qualify for next season’s FA Cup.
