Tomorrow’s Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round tieHinckley AFC badge against Redditch United at St John’s Park is arguably the biggest game thus far in Hinckley AFC’s short history.

AFC’s first venture into the qualifying rounds of the world’s most famous club cup competition sees them take on a Redditch side who ply their trade three levels higher in the pyramid.

Having lost just one competitive game all season, AFC will be in good spirits going into the game and have progressed to the next round of the FA Vase after last week’s win at Wolves Sporting.Emirates_FA_Cup_Landscape_4C

Carl Abbott’s side sit seventh in the Midland League First Division, but have played fewer games than every other team.

After drawing four of their first five league games, Redditch Redditch Unitedhave recorded three consecutive league wins, largely thanks to the influence of club captain Danny Dubidat. The former Hinckley United striker signed from Bedworth United in the summer, and has scored five goals in his last three games after returning from suspension.

The victories over Dunstable Town (2-1), Stratford Town (3-2) and Bedworth (2-1) have moved Redditch up to mid-table in the Southern League Premier Division.

The Reds will be keen to keep up their winning streak to ensure they don’t exit the FA Cup at this stage for a fifth consecutive season. In fact, the last time Redditch made it past the First Qualifying Round was in 2010-11 when they beat Hinckley United 1-0. The goalscorer that day was Hinckley AFC’s very own Marco Adaggio!

If a replay is needed, it will take place at Redditch’s Valley Stadium on Monday evening (14th September), kicking off at 7-45pm.
