Abbo Reflects on Vase Progress

Hinckley AFC Manager Carl Abbott was delighted with his side’s performance in the 6-0 victory over Bromyard Town.

Hinckley were in control throughout the game as soon as they took a fourth minute lead through an own goal, and a hat-trick from Marco Adaggio, along with goals from Kristian Ramsey-Dickson and Rico Taylor helped AFC to a comfortable victory.

And Abbo is hoping for another long and successful run in an FA competition, to mirror that of the FA Cup earlier in the season. He said: ‘(It was a) good performance today.

It was the result we wanted and hopefully now we can embark on another journey which will be similar to the FA Cup for us. I look forward to seeing who we pull now in the next round.’

The former Wolves Casuals boss felt that once his side had taken five minutes to settle into their game, they dominated Bromyard and never gave their visitors a sniff.

‘When you look at the form and the league tables, I think we knew that we were going to be playing against a side who were coming off the back of some struggling form.

‘But as anyone else, they came here with a chance and if we’re sloppy or not about our business, and we let teams get a foothold in the game, it really doesn’t matter what level they’re from, you can be in for a difficult afternoon’s work.

‘Today, after around five minutes or so when we settled, we really did assert ourselves, which is what we asked the boys to do and the cream rose to the top if you like.

‘We were very, very dominant and really, really showed our class against a side from a comparable level.’

The Printing Works’ Supporters Man of the Match was awarded to Rico Taylor. The former Bromsgrove man has been plying his trade at left back in recent weeks, but reverted to his more familiar position on the wing today and caused havoc for the visiting defence along with Javia Roberts.

Taylor picked up a goal and two assists in the game, and Abbo was full of praise for one of September’s Player of the Month nominees.

‘Firstly, Rico is happy playing left back. It was a challenge that he embraced, and it’s something that interests him. He’s listening to us and it certainly won’t be the last time we see Rico at left back.

‘I think he could be our left back if that’s what he wants and that’s what injuries and availability dictate.

‘But today as a left winger, fantastic. He was really expressive, it was one of those games that anything he tried came off. The shackles came off for him today, he played with a lot of freedom and a lot of flair, and I’d pay money to watch Rico Taylor play football when he plays like that.

‘He’s worth the admission fee and it’s great when you see lads expressing themselves like that and playing with that freedom.’
