Tommo reflects on Greenwood win

Hinckley AFC assistant manager Paul Tomlinson admits mixed feelings after his side’s 6-3 win over Greenwood Meadows in the Buildbase FA Vase yesterday.
Five goals from Ryan Seal took the plaudits as AFC looked threatening going forward, but they conceded three soft goals at the back which meant they were never out of sight until late on.
And for Tomlinson, the defensive errors marginally took the gloss off the highlights going forward. He said: “I’m really pleased that we’ve got the victory and that we’re through to the next round, but what disappoints me a little bit is the three goals we conceded.
“The second goal was a good goal in terms of the set piece but we shouldn’t be giving set pieces away where we did. That was a mistake on our part. Then the third goal was a good finish but we were sloppy from the re-start.
“So overall it’s a top win, a good six goals, but the three goals we conceded were disappointing.”
Hinckley have now reached the first round of the FA Vase for the second season running, and Tomlinson says the competition is high in their list of priorities as they look to go as far as they can.
“The FA Vase is at our level, it’s our equivalent of the FA Cup. If you’ve got any ambitions of being a decent side then you’ve got to think you can go on and win it.
“For me, it’s a massive priority. There are financial rewards for the club as well, and for the lads there is that little bit of glory if you can have a good cup run.
“Look at Hereford last year, you can generate a lot of interest so we want to go as far as we possibly can.”
