Under 18s fall to narrow defeat in second friendly

Dan Gibson’s Hinckley AFC Under 18s side slipped to a narrow late defeat in their second friendly at Nuneaton Griff yesterday evening.

After a goalless draw at home to Rugby Town in their first friendly, Gibson’s development side had a solid base to build from as they travelled to the Pingles Stadium.

And Charlie Bancroft etched his name into the club’s history books by becoming the Under 18s’ first ever goalscorer in the first half.

Immediately after half time, Jacob Searson doubled AFC’s lead but it wasn’t to last as an own goal brought Griff back into the game.

Craig Gee’s late brace condemned AFC to defeat, first equalising before netting a late winner with a free header in the last minute.
