August Player of the Month

A solid start to the season saw six wins and two defeats in a busy August, but now it’s time to vote for your Supporters’ Player of the Month.

We’ve had to narrow it down to just four nominees, but you have the final say and have a week to cast your vote on our Twitter page.

First, have a read through the nominees – and with just seven goals conceded in eight games it’s little surprise that defenders dominate the shortlist…

Up first is George Brindley. The versatile right sided player was ever-energetic down the flank and caused problems for opposition full backs going forward, while looking solid in defence. He played in six of the eight games this month, keeping three clean sheets when he played in his first month in red and blue.

Also on the list is Ky Green. An unlikely contender to be leading scorer after eight games, the centre back has contributed at both ends of the pitch and struck up an immediate partnership with Curtis Townley. He helped keep four clean sheets, and contributed three goals at the other end while also picking up the Man of the Match award against Ashby Ivanhoe.

Three goals for Green then, who shares the leading scorer tag with another nominee, Bekir Halil. The club captain scored the decisive late winner over Heath Hayes, while also breaking the deadlock against Coventry Copsewood and Ashby Ivanhoe. A constant source of energy in the middle of the park, he has quickly made the centre of midfield his own upon his return.

The other nominee is Green’s centre half partner Townley. The only man to play every minute during the month, he also proved a threat going forward and scored the first goal of the new campaign against Heath Hayes. With two Man of the Match awards to his name, against Heath Hayes and Ellesmere Rangers, he’ll be coping for another to cap off his first month with the club.
