AGM Directors nominations

Hinckley AFC can announce that nominations for election to the Board of Directors, at the 2019 AGM, have been received from Jason Tipping and Scott Barnes.

Both will stand for election at the AGM along side current Directors Stewart Dee and Mark Langley who are standing to be re-elected to the Board. As there are fewer candidates than vacancies available, as per the Club’s election policy, a ballot will not be required and candidates will be elected by members present at the AGM.

Jason Tipping should be well known to AFC members having been a board member previously, in the role of Commercial Director. His statement reads as follows:

I have been involved in Hinckley football all my life, from being a ball boy at Middlefield Lane, experiencing play off heartbreak and difficult times at the Greene King Stadium, to being part of the initial Hinckley AFC working group and then being voted as a previous director of the club.

In order for myself to be considered as a potential board member, I feel it is important that I disclose the reasons why I previously stepped down and why I feel now is the correct time to stand again. My decision to step down was solely dictated by work commitments. My previous involvement with the club coincided with my time at university and jobs where I could manage my time effectively. I then started a job which required my full attention and unfortunately I had to step away from Hinckley AFC. I have now been in the same job for 3 years and I feel I can now manage my time effectively once again.

On to what I want to bring to Hinckley AFC. many of you I hope remember me from being the clubs first Commercial Director where I worked closely with the town and obtained the support of over 30 local businesses who sponsored the club. I wish to support the commercial side of the club again, however this time I wish to devote the majority of my time and focus to the ‘get back to Hinckley’ project. The current board of directors have done an incredible job stabilising the club and building a home for the club at Ibstock. I hope to build on their good work and to be a fresh individual who can work on bringing the club back to Hinckley. Initial plans will be to follow up current leads, arrange meetings with key personnel and to engage fully with the local council.

Scott Barnes has been a regular supporter for a number of years, is a regular volunteer in working groups at Ibstock contributing to the canteen and general appearance around the Welfare Ground and most recently was responsible for the refurbishment of the portakin bar. His statement reads as follows:

As a supporter of Hinckley AFC from the very beginning it has always been my ambition to be more involved, but my work commitments prevented me. I no longer have those commitments and now have time to devote to helping to push our football club forward. Our club is very dear to my heart and the opportunity to work alongside the other directors to improve our club both on and off the pitch is a challenge that I would relish.

The club’s Annual General Meeting takes place on Wednesday 4th December at the Greyhound Inn, New Buildings, Hinckley, LE10 1HN, with a 7.30pm start.
