A calamitous first half saw AFC succumb to their heaviest defeat of the season as the visitors maintained their lead at the top of the table.
It was a miserable 45 minutes in every sense for the hosts, as the rain lashed The Welfare Ground Hinckley were three goals down by the interval, seeing Mark Williams sent off as well as losing two players to injury and the game was over as a contest by the time the half time whistle sounded.
The visitors got their noses in front after just four minutes, Liam Read found himself some space on the right hand edge of the area and he drove home his angled drive via the far post.
Hinckley almost responded with a fine solo effort from Dimitri Dunkley who’s jinking run took him from one penalty box to the other before driving a shot straight at Will Highland.
Hinckley were forced into a change when Ash Gray was replaced by Mikkel Hirst before the crucial incident of the game on 17 minutes when Williams’ rash lunge at Jack Harrison on the halfway line was deemed worthy of a red card by referee Aaron Ford and AFC were forced to play the majority of the game with ten men.
Leicester Road doubled their lead ten minutes before half time when Callum Earls’ precise daisy cutter of a free kick from 25 yards nestled in the bottom corner of the net and immediately AFC lost their talismanic captain Luke Richards who was replaced by Ryan Ball.
AFC keeper Adam Harrison made a fine double save to deny Sam Munton but three minutes before the break he couldn’t hold Nuno Gomes’ left wing cross and the rebound was poked home by Matt Langham to see Leicester Road have the points in the bag by the end of the half.
Langham netted his second ten minutes after the break, getting behind the home defence before composing himself to fire beyond the stranded Harrison, and thereafter the game petered out with Leicester Road content to see out the game with the points secured whilst AFC were happy to avoid further damage on a chastening afternoon.
