January Player of the Month nominees

January started and ended in defeat, but three straight wins in the middle made it a positive month overall – but now it’s time to vote for your Supporters’ Player of the Month.

A lack of games in November and December made it impossible to have a vote, but it’s back for January after a month with five matches.

We’ve had to narrow it down to just four nominees, but you have the final say and have a week to cast your vote on our Twitter page.

First, have a read through the nominees…

First up, midfielder Ryan Ball who only played in three of our five games this month, but impressed during his time on the pitch. He scored a fine opening goal in the win over Chelmsley before setting up the second, and regularly found himself in threatening pockets of space during January.

Next up is Lewis Commins, who was regularly a threat down the right this month. He scored in the win over Chelmsley, and followed that up ten days later with a brace and an assist at Lichfield. His direct and aggressive wing play caused problems for defenders throughout the month and he also won the penalty at Coventry Copsewood on Tuesday as he looks to make the number 7 shirt his own.

Also on the list is a player who only came into the side at the start of the month, but has started every game through January. Young midfielder Reece Giles made his mark on the midfield with an assured month in the middle of the park – quietly going about his business with maturity beyond his years. He also picked up the Man of the Match award against Chelmsley.

Finally, a man who played every minute of every game in January – his first full month with the club. Ben Kendrick’s partnership with Ky Green was pivotal in keeping two clean sheets during January, while he also popped up with that vital last minute winner over Nuneaton Griff that sparked memorable scenes. The ex-Coventry United man picked up the Man of the Match award against Griff and was a key part of the solid defence that only conceded one goal during the run of three wins.

The vote is open for exactly a week on our Twitter page twitter.com/hinckley_afc – get voting!
