Box-to-box central player Declan Somel featured more than 20 times for Walsall Wood last season when they won the Midland League Premier Division title, having also scored twice for them in 14 games the previous season.

He came through the academy at Tamworth, where he played with his new AFC teammate Chandler Pegg, and he also plays his Sunday football in the same team as Pegg, Brandon Bache, Sam Walton and Ky Green.
