Abbo’s Message to the Fans
Following Saturday’s defeat at Racing Club Warwick, manager Carl Abbott had a message for the club’s supporters.
‘I just wanted to put something out there for the supporters and followers of the club.
‘Of course it was another bitterly disappointing afternoon on Saturday, result wise, and I honestly can’t give an explanation for the results. I have never experienced anything like this spell in all of my time as a player or manager, and if we were performing poorly, not competing, or being beaten handily I would of course question my own role and position.
‘But when we are not only competing but dominating games, like we did again on Saturday, I can only conclude that we must stick together and weather this storm – supporters, players and staff.
‘Anybody who is not at the games will have no grasp of our current situation, as the results do of course look appalling – and they are – but the performances and dominance in games has deserved so much more, and it is just not adding up.
‘The players had a very frank debrief after the game on Saturday, and I can tell you that their passion for the club and its supporters, their pride in representing the club, and their sheer disappointment that results are not being delivered for you was tangible. They are so hurt and disappointed, and the focus for the players is very much on delivering for you all.
‘If ever there is a case in football for simply sticking together and riding out a rough spell then this is it. No drastic changes are needed, no urgent additions or evident weaknesses. It is all in place I believe, and if we can come through this together I think a very special relationship between the club, supporters and playing side will have been forged.
‘Time, patience and support is not a luxury often afforded in football in the modern game at any level, and this club and its dedicated support continues to amaze me. I promise you your patience will be rewarded tenfold.
‘Again, I’m so sorry on behalf of the players and staff that you are having to endure this spell. Please stick with us, back us as you have, and we will get our just rewards.
