Match Preview: Pilkington XXX (a)

Hinckley AFC will be looking to build on Tuesday’s Jelson Homes Senior Cup win when they return to league action with a trip to Pilkington XXX this afternoon, kick off 3pm.

Goals from JJ Melligan, Mark Bellingham and Ryan Taylor saw Hinckley record a win that their dominance deserved, and manager Carl Abbott hopes that his side can take the confidence of putting the ball in the back of the net into their league matches.

Speaking after Tuesday’s match, he said: ‘We’re not going to get carried away but we needed that. We needed something to break for us, and we got the right result.

‘We move onto the next game and see where it takes us.’

The home side currently lie 14th in the league table, having won four and lost six of their ten matches. Goal scoring has not been a problem for them: only the top three sides have scored more than Pilkington’s 28, with Kyle Turner scoring half of them.
