It will be an historic occasion for Hinckley AFC tomorrow wHinckley AFC badgehen they face Walsall Wood in their first match in The Emirates FA Cup at St John’s Park, kick off 3pm.

Carl Abbott’s side earned their place in the Extra Preliminary Round of the most famous club cup competition in the world with their 27 match unbeaten run towards the end of last season that propelled them to third in the Midland League First Division table.

Meanwhile, Walsall Wood’s solid back line was the backbone of their fourth placed finish in the MFL Premier Division last term: no teamWalsall Wood in the league conceded fewer goals than Wood’s 38 in 42 matches.

They were also the last Midland League team to be knocked out of the FA Vase last season, making it to a fourth round replay before being defeated by Shaw Lane Aquaforce.

In Wood’s first two matches of this season, they drew 1-1 with Bardon Hill (who beat Hinckley 1-0 in the Jelson Homes Senior Cup Final last season) last Saturday, before being defeated 2-1 by Highgate United on Tuesday.

The winners of tomorrow’s match will travel to Gornal Athletic or Bromsgrove Sporting in the Preliminary Round in a fortnight. If the match is a draw, the replay will take place this coming Tuesday at Wood’s Oak Park ground.
