Walks Reaches 50

Not only was yesterday’s FA Cup victory over Redditch United an historic day for the club, it was only memorable for midfielder Nathan Walker.

‘Walks’ became the first player to make 50 appearances for Hinckley AFC in the game, having played seven more times than his closest challenger Luke Richards.

Speaking to the club YouTube channel, Nathan started by reflecting on the differences between now and when he joined the club around fifteen months ago. He said: ‘I think we’ve come a long way from last year. We’ve started a lot better this year than we did last year, and that’s what killed us last year; the start that we had.

‘To beat a team that’s three leagues higher than us, I don’t think anyone expected it. We were massive underdogs, they were massive favourites but I think we matched them all over the park.’

‘I got sent off in pre-season, and in the Studley game here (at St John’s Park), and I let the lads down massively. I should have learnt from the first sending off, but I’ve just tried to channel my aggression in the right way. We can’t be going down to ten men every week.

‘Going forward I think the team are as strong as ever. We’ve come on leaps and bounds from last year. There’s no reason why we can’t put a few trophies on the board this year.’
