An Update From Abbo

An Update From Abbo

Hinckley AFC manager Carl Abbott has provided an update on the state of his squad, which sees one new addition ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Atherstone Town.

Alex Penny is a central defender who joins on loan fromAlex Penny Northern Premier League side Stourbridge. The nephew of Hinckley United legend Andy, Penny is a former Welsh youth international who came through the academy at Hull City and spent time at his uncle’s club Bedworth United earlier this season.

And Abbo was quick to thank The Glassboys for their help with the deal, saying: ‘Alex will benefit from a run of games, having found opportunities difficult to come by at step three this year.

‘He comes with a high recommendation from Stourbridge boss Gary Hackett, who has been extremely helpful in assisting with the deal.’

Penny’s addition will provide cover at the back for the injured duo of Jean Kalenda and Kristian Ramsey-Dickson. Kalenda is suffering from a bruised foot sustained against Shepshed Dynamo, while Ramsey-Dickson has had a long standing problem that has now been diagnosed as a broken foot.

Abbo said: ‘To Kristian’s credit, he has been playing in severe pain for a number of weeks now knowing we are low on numbers. Even upon being diagnosed this week, he declined to go into plaster at the time in order to speak to myself and Paul Tomlinson about when it would be best for the club for him to do so.

‘The fact he’s willing to continue playing shows his fantastic attitude and commitment.’

Also unavailable tomorrow are Darious Darkin (foot injury), Marco Adaggio (suspended), Lee Thomas (holiday) and Ryan Seal (work), but Mitchell Tomlinson returns to the squad after injury alongside JJ Melligan.
