Twelve Moments of Christmas: Number Two

Twelve Moments of Christmas: Number Two

At number two in our list of favourite moments from 2015 is the incredible stoppage time comeback at Bolehall Swifts in March.

On the back of a 22 match unbeaten run, a top of the table AFC travelled to third place Bolehall for the first of three quick fire away games against the rest of the top four.

In the 92nd minute, Carl Abbott’s side were 3-1 down, and despite a battling second half performance AFC looked certain to taste league defeat for the first time since the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

But when Luke Richards stroked home from the edge of the box in the 93rd minute, AFC had hope. From the re-start, Hinckley won the ball back, and won a free kick near the corner flag. From Ross Clarke’s delivery, chaos ensued as players desperately swung legs at the ball.

The telling connection came from Marco Adaggio, who bundled the ball over the line in the 96th minute to spark scenes of jubilation behind the goal and preserve the unbeaten run.

That moment of sheer elation makes it into second place on our ‘Twelve Moments of Christmas’, but what could have beaten it? We’ll reveal all tomorrow!
