AEI Rugby 0-8 Hinckley AFC

AEI Rugby 0-8 Hinckley AFC

Hinckley AFC comfortably progressed to the Semi Finals of the Coventry Charity Cup by plundering eight goals against AEI Rugby.

On the slick surface at Kilsby Lane, Hinckley were clinical against their Coventry Alliance opponents throughout and deservedly progressed without any scares.

Ryan Seal was the chief tormentor: he bagged four of AFC’s eight goals, with debutant Sam Agar bagging a brace after Javia Roberts scored Hinckley’s first two goals of the night.

Hinckley made five changes to the side that was defeated by Heath Hayes just 48 hours previously. Agar came in for his first appearance for the club, and was joined in the eleven by Mitchell Tomlinson, Ray Facey, Sean Williams and Javia Roberts.

From the very start, Hinckley controlled the game and once Roberts gave them an early lead on his return to the fold, there was no looking back.

The diminutive winger then bagged a second before fifteen minutes had been played, this time firing home from the edge of the box.

The goals continued to flow as Hinckley looked to put the game out of sight, and Agar marked his debut with a goal shortly afterwards.

With thirteen minutes to go to half time, it was Seal’s turn to get in on the action. The former Kirby Muxloe man finished from inside the six yard box after good work by Agar, who turned provider.

Hinckley’s passing and movement continued to cause problems for the Rugby defence, and Seal put the game beyond any doubt in the 41st minute with the goal of the game. His mazy run saw him twist this way and that, beating four Rugby defenders before slotting home.

The second half continued in much the same vein as the first, and Agar continued his impressive first game for the club by adding his second, and Hinckley’s sixth, just after the hour mark.

Still moving the ball impressively, Hinckley scored their seventh as the game entered its final stages. Seal ran through on goal and coolly slotted home to secure his hat-trick, before the same player completed the scoring late on to round off an impressive showing from Carl Abbott’s side.
