Match Preview: Pershore Town (h)

Hinckley AFC badgeHinckley AFC’s first home game on Non-League Day sees Pershore Town visit St John’s Park tomorrow, kick off 3pm.
For the first time in their short history, AFC have a home game on the day of the annual event, and a special offer means that if an under 16 pays £2 entry, one accompanying adult per child can watch the match free of charge!
The offer applies to regular supporters and any first time visitors, who will hope to see Carl Abbott’s side extend their unbeaten home start to the new season.
Midland Football LeagueFour points picked up over the Bank Holiday double header means AFC are just three points off third place five matches into the season, and have a game in hand over the current incumbents Racing Club Warwick.
Such is the tight nature of the Midland League Division One, though, that nine teams between third and eleventh are separated by just three points.
In contrast, Pershore will be looking to kickstart their season tomorrow after a start that has seen Quentin Townsend’s side win one and lose four of their opening five matches.
Pershore TownOnly Southam United have scored fewer goals than Pershore at this early stage of the campaign, with the Worcestershire side failing to find the net in three of their five outings.
All three of Pershore’s goals this season have been scored by Jamie Clarke, a man who scored 23 times for Littleton last season. Nullifying him will be key to Hinckley’s hopes of recording a first clean sheet of the season.
If Hinckley are to win tomorrow, they will have to get past a man who was their teammate last week. Tom Cross joined Pershore from Hinckley this week, and will want to keep his former teammates at bay and get one over on his former club.
Cross was in goal for Hinckley in the last meeting between the sides back in March. AFC went a goal down early on, but goals from Luke Richards, Javia Roberts and Ryan Seal earned all three points for Abbo’s men.
