Match Preview: Heath Hayes (h)

Hinckley AFC badgeHinckley AFC’s first match of 2017 sees Heath Hayes visit St John’s Park tomorrow afternoon, kick off 3pm.

Carl Abbott’s side ended 2016 with three goals and three points against landlords Heather St John’s yesterday, and will be looking to take that form into 2017 against the Cannock based outfit tomorrow.

Heath Hayes, meanwhile, didn’t play on New Year’s Eve, so their last game was on 27th December when they comfortably overcame Pelsall Villa 5-0, with a brace each for Oliver Hayward and Brad Rolston.

Midland Football LeagueAfter an eighth placed finish last year, Heath Hayes haven’t been as consistent this term and currently occupy 14th place in the Midland League First Division. They have won six, drawn three and lost ten of their 19 league games thus far, amassing 21 points.

And AFC will be looking to beat Heath Hayes for the first time after losing both games against them last season, surrendering a lead at St John’s Park in October before losing by the odd goal in three in February’s reverse fixture.

Like Hinckley, Heath Hayes have been prolific in front of goal recently and have scored 14 Heath Hayesgoals in their last three games – a 6-5 defeat at Wolves Casuals followed by a 4-4 draw with Stafford Town before putting five past Pelsall in their last fixture.

If both sides take that form into the new year, it promises to be a cracker to kick off 2017 at St John’s Park tomorrow.
