Match Preview: Stafford Town (h)

Hinckley AFC badgeHinckley AFC will want to return to winning ways when playing their second home game in four days against Stafford Town tomorrow evening, kick off 7-45pm.

Carl Abbott’s side had won their previous nine leagure games at St John’s Park, but lost their unbeaten home league record on Saturday when Bromsgrove Sporting grabbed all three points.

And after that setback Hinckley will be keen to record their first three league points of 2017 against third bottom Reds, who Hinckley only defeated with a late Ryan Seal penalty at Stafford Rangers’ Marston Road ground back in August.

Midland Football LeagueAnd after seeing goals galore in their games early in December, Stafford are now not seeing the net bulge as often at either end. They had a 4-3 defeat and a 4-4 draw in their last two games before Christmas, but have scored just one goal in their last four.

But while they haven’t scored too many recently, Stafford have kept them out at the back, keeping two consecutive clean sheets in the league in a narrow win over Pelsall Villa and a goalless stalemate at Chelmsley Town.

Of the sides in the bottom half, only Heath Hayes have a better defensive record but Hinckley’s attacking prowess Stafford Townmeans they are the league’s top scorers and they will be confident of breaking down that Stafford defence which hasn’t conceded in 207 minutes of football.

AFC will jump above Racing Club Warwick and into fourth with a win tomorrow, with three points putting them within five points of Bromsgrove Sporting, within two of Leicester Road and just four points behind Atherstone Town. Three points would also set up a mouthwatering weekend in the Midland League Division One, when the top four sides in the league would face each other on Saturday
