Presentation Night wrap

James Williams and Andy Westwood picked up awards doubles as Hinckley AFC celebrated another record-breaking campaign at last night’s presentation evening.

With the season almost completed, ahead of Monday’s final match in the Polymac Packaging League Cup final against Alvechurch, the senior and junior set ups at the club came together to celebrate the successes of the season.

Williams and Westwood picked up two awards apiece, including sharing the Players’ Player of the Year award after that vote ended up as a tie.

Having arrived from Romulus in October, Westwood made 37 appearances this season and has been a figure of great consistency in the middle of the park, while Williams’ fine displays at right back saw him play 47 times during the season, chipping in with seven goals.

Westwood was also recognised by Carl Abbott and his backroom team as he picked up the Manager’s Player of the Year award, while Williams also won the Supporters’ Young Player of the Year.

And in a tight vote, midfielder Lee Butler was narrowly edged out by captain and 56-goal machine Ryan Seal as the skipper collected the Supporters’ Player of the Season vote in addition to the Andy Lucas Trophy for ending as top goalscorer.

In the awards away from the pitch, the Simon Blyth Clubman of the Year award went to Liam Gibbs, while the DPD Community Award was awarded to Chris Jiggens and Mick Hooker for their work at St John’s Park on matchdays.

We’ll have comprehensive reaction on our official club channels over the next 24 hours, as we spoke to several of the award winners and backroom staff to reflect on the season and look ahead to Monday’s final against Alvechurch.
