Dale Belford’s statement on leaving AFC

Dale BelfordFormer manager Dale Belford has thanked the players, supporters and staff at the club for their efforts during his time in charge.
During his tenure, AFC won eight games out of 12 including seven on the bounce from early November to mid-December.
But the former Tamworth boss stepped down last week due to personal reasons and has issued the following statement through the club:

“First and foremost I’d like to thank everybody at the club for how supportive they were when I took over. It was great to see so many familiar and friendly faces.
The one thing I knew, coming into the club, was how passionate the support was and for that I’m grateful. Although I was only at Hinckley for a short period of time, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to manage a club which is close to my heart.
However, certain things have happened which meant it was the right time for me to move on. That’s football, these things happen.
It was a difficult job to take at the time because a lot of players had left in a short period of time, but that happens in football and we got on with it.
I’d like to think that people enjoyed the football we played and the results we achieved. I’m certainly very proud of the run we went on. The commitment shown by everybody in the dressing room was unbelievable and I’m immensely proud of the attitude the players showed.
That includes my staff, the likes of Gunny, Geordie and Sam, and of course Lavs and Tom. They played a massive part and without them we couldn’t have gone on the run we did. The game against Leicester Road really galvanised us and kicked us on. The two games in the Vase were incredible and the reaction of the fans after both of those wins was amazing.

Without the fans, a club like Hinckley couldn’t exist and I hope that everybody sticks together so that it can move forward to where we want to be. The club and the people involved deserve a higher level of football.
I wish Lavs, Tom and the lads all the very best at Marske on Saturday. The club is in great hands under them.
All the best,
Dale”

The club would like to thank Dale for his efforts during his time in charge and we wish him all the best for the future.
