Quorn 4-0 Hinckley AFC

Two early goals and two late goals condemned Hinckley AFC to defeat as county rivals Quorn reached the next round of the League Cup with a 4-0 win.

Quorn flew out of the blocks against a Hinckley side who hadn’t played for a week and a half, and were two up inside six minutes through Bobby Moseley and Omar Haughton.

And the home side were largely comfortable in their win, which they secured in the final ten minutes when Joe O’Neill and Danny Dubidat added gloss to the scoreline.

James Jepson made one change to his Hinckley side that started against Leicester Road more than ten days prior. Liam Cross made a debut at centre half, the unavailable Sam Belcher making way as Hinckley changed their shape.

But having not had a game for 11 days, it was clear Hinckley hadn’t played for over a week and they took time to settle into the game.

And they were punished by a Quorn side who started quickly, taking the lead inside three minutes when Moseley netted their opener

Hincley had barely reacted to that one when they faced an even greater task, Haughton doubling their lead before the game was six minutes old.

Seeking a route back into the game, Hinckley twice called veteran ‘keeper Russell Hoult into action late in the first half, first through Jean Dakouri’s effort fired straight at the stopper, before Jepson’s free kick was well dealt with too.

But Jordan Wilson, HInckley’s main attacking threat, was starved of service all evening and that was the main reason Hoult wasn’t troubled with enough regularity.

And Quorn sealed the game in the closing ten minutes to kill off any hope Hinckley had of a late comeback. First, O’Neill secured the home side’s progression with a neat finish to wrap up the result, before Dubidat added an element of gloss to the scoreline for the hosts with a fourth six minutes from time.

It meant Quorn advanced to the next round, where they will host AFC Wulfrunians, while AFC tun their focus soleyl back to league action.
