Match Preview: Aylestone Park (a)

Two of the country’s leading scorers go head-to-head this weekend when Hinckley AFC visit Aylestone Park.

Hinckley, with 94 league goals to their name so far this season to add to 18 in the FA Vase, moved back to the top of the United Counties League Division One on Tuesday with a 4-0 win at home to Graham Street Prims.

In doing so, they went back above their opponents this weekend with Aylestone Park one of only two sides nationally to hit the back of the net more times in league games this campaign than Hinckley.

Park have hit 106 goals in the league so far, with Shay Brennan plundering a remarkable 53 in all competitions.

He hit six in their 8-0 win at Bourne last week that brought up their century of league goals for the season. Former Hinckley United man Declan Towers scored too.

That was their third win in four games that put an end to a tough run of five defeats in six that saw them slip back from league leaders and into the pack.

Just eight points separate the top six sides in Division One, Hinckley and Aylestone being two of them. AFC sit top, three points ahead of third-placed Park with a game in hand.

But the hosts will move back above Hinckley if they take all three points on a weekend where four of the top five play each other. Elsewhere Radford, in second, visit fifth-placed Kimberley Miners Welfare.

Aylestone Park play at the Linwood Playing Fields, Gary Lineker Pavilion, Saffron Lane, Leicester, LE2 6TG.
