Joe Cairns returns to Hinckley

Hinckley AFC have re-signed attacking midfielder Joe Cairns from Highgate United.

The 22-year-old, who can play wide or centrally, is back at the club after a brief spell at step five.

Cairns initially joined in February from Coventry United and made ten appearances between then and the end of the season, scoring six times. They included a 30-yard free kick against Kimberley Miners Welfare and a goal on debut against Clifton All Whites.

Manager Joe Conneely said: “I like Joe, and he was probably one of the players I was most gutted about losing in the summer.

“We’ve got nine games in October, with lots of short recovery times so definitely play and he’ll come and give us a different option.

“The fans know what Joe is all about. He’s technically very good, gets goals and assists and he’s another player we couldn’t turn down.”

A former Walsall academy product, Joe also had a spell with Swedish side Gottne after leaving the Bescot Stadium before returning to the UK with Coventry United. He played more than 100 times for them before linking up with Hinckley.

Welcome back, Joe!
