Match Preview: Coventry Copsewood (a)

Hinckley AFC’s run of away cup games ends with their return to the League Cup away to Coventry Copsewood on Tuesday evening.

The trio of games has given Hinckley a break from league action, which continues at Allard Way in the second round of the competition Hinckley reached the final of back in 2016/17.

Both Hinckley and Copsewood were given byes to this stage so both are making their competition debuts for the season.

Indeed, with the suspension of competitions due to the pandemic, this will be Hinckley’s first outing in a League Cup competition since they beat Ashby Ivanhoe in the final game before the first lockdown.

In contrast to Hinckley’s stutters, Copsewood have found form recently with three wins on the bounce, beating Bridgnorth, Wolves Sporting and Ingles all in the league.

It’s a run that has lifted them up to 14th while they also have a positive goal difference – the only side in the bottom nine to have that. Their leading scorer is Bryan Kohyrelon, with eight.

The sides will meet again later this month in Division One, in a fortnight’s time at Kirkby Road.

Copsewood play at Allard Way, Binley, Coventry, CV3 1JP.
