Coleshill Town 1-1 Hinckley AFC

Hinckley AFC extended their unbeaten start to pre-season with a 1-1 draw at step four Coleshill Town.

AFC’s three-match winning sequence came to an end but their undefeated pre-season campaign is still going with plenty for Joe Conneely and Courtney Hunter-Belford to take from the stalemate at Pack Meadow.

The first half bore similarities to Hinckley’s game at Quorn on Saturday – away at a side two levels higher in the pyramid, Hinckley held their own but fell behind to an early goal. Robbie Bunn, who ended last season with Hinckley, was the provider with a wide free-kick that was touched home at the near post by Amarvir Sandhu.

Hinckley’s equaliser came just before the break, also through a set piece that was turned into his own net by Taylor Byrne under pressure from Ky Green.

Mitchell Piggon’s shot on the turn then forced a fine save out of home ‘keeper Paul Hathaway, who tipped over to preserve the 1-1 scoreline at the break.

Piggon came close to a winner after the break too, while AFC defended well at the other end to ensure chances were at a premium.

It means Hinckley’s pre-season remains unblemished ahead of Saturday’s game away to Kirby Muxloe.
