Defender Swingwood signs

Hinckley AFC have completed the signing of centre-back Charlie Swingwood.

The defender joins from AFC Bridgnorth, where he has been club captain this season, and played for them in our 2-1 win there last month.

Previously of Stafford Town, he followed their former manager Steve Barrow to Bridgnorth last season and has also played for Wolves Casuals and Darlaston Town.

With Ky Green and Jack Beasley the only recognised centre-backs in the squad, Joe Conneely and Courtney Hunter-Belford have added depth to the defensive group.

Conneely said: “We’re delighted to get Charlie done. He’s always stood out when he’s played against us whether it’s been for Stafford Town or Bridgnorth and will fit into how we do things here.

“He’s a very good defender and just as good a player so we’re pleased he’s decided to join us. He’s got a good relationship with Steve at Bridgnorth who has been brilliant in making this happen, so we thank him as well.”

Charlie is ineligible to feature against Ingles in tonight’s Senior Cup quarter-final but could play against Smethwick Rangers on Saturday.

Welcome to Hinckley, Charlie!
