Match Preview: Holwell Sports (h)

Manager Courtney Belford says his side will do everything they can to record a fourth successive win when they face Holwell Sports on Saturday.

AFC have won their last three games, scoring four goals in each at Lutterworth Athletic, Harrowby United and Clifton All Whites.

This weekend they’re back on the temporary home soil of St John’s Park for what could be the last time before returning to Kirkby Road.

County rivals Holwell Sports are the visitors and Belford says he knows what to expect from them.

“We’ve watched them a couple of times. We try to do as much as we can to research teams but it’s difficult because of the amount of rotation that goes on at this level. Even on Tuesday we made changes because of availability.

“We’ve got a gist of how they play but we focus more on how we can put our stamp on the game. Nothing is ever a given and we’ve got to do everything we can to win.”

Only one side have played fewer games than Sports so far, but they sit 15th after their opening 12 games. They have had an inconsistent start – won six and lost six.

They lost 3-1 to Hucknall Town last time out but put six past Barrow Town the week before, highlighting their goalscoring prowess. Harry Allcock and George Bosworth are both in double figures for goals already.

After the return of Mikkel Hirst for Hinckley on Tuesday, Belford is hopeful fellow injury-hit duo Isa Abraham and Lewis Rankin will be back in the fold soon.

And barring long-term absentees Ky Green and Ben Newport, it’ll be the first time this season he’s had a full-strength squad to choose from when they do return.
