Arnold and Adaggio reflect on Win

Goalkeeper Sam Arnold and striker Marco Adaggio spoke to us after Hinckley AFC’s 6-1 victory over Alvis Sporting.

Adaggio was making just his second substitute appearance since recovering from a shoulder injury that he sustained back in September, and scored his first goals for the club, first converting Luke Richards’ cross before a superb solo effort for Hinckley’s sixth.

And the former Worcester City and AFC Telford United striker says that it is important to put points on the board ahead of another home match on Tuesday. He said: ‘It’s a bonus as striker to come on and score goals.

‘It’s a massive bonus for the boys to win, get the three points and keep the ball rolling ahead of Tuesday’s game against Lichfield.’

After scoring twice as a substitute, will Adaggio be pushing for a start on Tuesday?
‘Of course I’d like a start, but we were already winning before I came on and the team has been doing well.
‘Obviously I want to be starting a game of football, but the decision’s up to Carl so we’ll see!’

Meanwhile, Arnold was making his 20th competitive appearance for the club, the first player to achieve the feat. He has only missed one game this season, and enjoyed the game despite not seeing much action.

‘I didn’t really have that much to do! It was disappointing not to keep a clean sheet. We grew into the game after being a little sloppy early on, and it’s nice when you have little to do, you can just watch the game flow!

‘It’s nice to get Marco back and scoring again, we just need to keep going and climbing that table.’

Arnold was also complimentary about the performance of his opposite number Jack Hartopp, who make numerous good saves to keep the scoreline down.

‘He played really well. He didn’t get much protection from his defence, and all in all he had a good game despite us putting a few goals past him.’
