Presentation Night: Player Reaction

Presentation Night: Player Reaction

We caught up with some of the award winners (and a runner-up) at last night’s presentation evening to get the players’ reaction to the season just gone.

Isaac Cooper won the Supporters’ Young Player of the Year, and the nineteen-year-old hopes to repeat his performances next year: ‘It’s a good achievement. I just hope I can go and do the same next year and hopefully we can win the league.’

Commenting on the lengthy unbeaten run, the former Redditch United left back was optimistic about carrying that form into 2015-16. ‘That (the unbeaten run) is a really good achievement. Not many teams can do stuff like that so hopefully we continue into next season with that league unbeaten run’

The Players’ Player of the Year award went to Alex Morris, who reserved praise for his central defensive partner Dom Smith: ‘It’s good, yeah. They (the players) obviously appreciate what me and Dom, at the back, what we do. I think Marco (Adaggio) and Walks (Nathan Walker) were both up there as well, we’ve all had decent seasons really.

Commenting on his partnership with Smith, Morris said: ‘We play quite well together, and we bonded as soon as we came together. It was good to play well. We seem to intimidate quite a few teams, which is good. It gives us a step up already at the start of the game, so we just use our strength and height to our advantage.’

The Supporters’ Player of the Season was a tightly contested award. Just five votes separated the top three, and Marco Adaggio was the runner up. He said: ‘It’s a brilliant group of lads we’ve got here, and an even better set of fans. I’m just glad to finish the season on a high, third place, no one would ever have guessed it.

‘As a striker, I’m trying to do the best I can for the team, and I got great supply as well from the midfield and the likes of Nathan (Walker) and Ross (Clarke) who are supplying the goals for us as well. That’s a massive help, but I’m just doing the best that I can.’

Walker beat narrowly beat Adaggio to the award, and was ‘chuffed to bits’ to win the night’s big award: ‘I’m chuffed to bits. I didn’t really think I’d win it because there are a lot of players out there who could have won the award. We’ve got a lot of good players here, and there would have been two or three players that I would have put before me to win it.

‘The feedback I’ve had from the fans suggests that they’ve never enjoyed their football more than they have this year, and as a player that’s music to your ears. They’ve been great all season, they’ve followed us home and away and come in numbers.’
