Hinckley AFCHinckley AFC start their action-packed final month of 2017-18 tonight when fellow top seven side Racing Club Warwick visit St John’s Park, kick off 7-45pm.
With the news that the season has been extended until 7th May, it means Hinckley now have 32 days to play their final 12 games, while Warwick have the same timescale to fulfil their 13 remaining fixtures.
Both sides have games in hand on the sides above them as they look to make up ground in the remaining fixtures and ensure they finish in the top four for guaranteed FA Cup qualification next season.
Midland Football LeagueAs the second top scorers in the league, Hinckley will be keen to get back on the pitch and get back to winning ways after losing a five-match winning streak to James Curley’s second half hat-trick for Uttoxeter Town.
Prior to that, the five straight wins had seen Richard Lavery’s men move up to fifth in the league, where they still lie entering the final stretch of the campaign.
AFC are four points behind fourth-placed Atherstone with two games in hand, and five behind third-placed Leicester Road with four games in hand. They also have to play both sides in the coming weeks.
Racing Club WarwickMeanwhile, the Racers will move within two points of Hinckley with a win at St John’s Park and Scott Easterlow’s side had the second best defensive record in the league until conceding six at Nuneaton Griff on Easter Saturday.
They did score four of their own in that ten-goal thriller, with Sean Kavanagh bagging a hat-trick to take him above Luke Cole as their leading scorer this season. Luke Church is also in double figures.
Former Hinckley goalkeeper Tom Cross now plies his trade for the Racers, and will come up against AFC’s strike force of Steve Hart and Luke Richards, who will be looking to add to their 59 goals between them this evening.
