Manager James Jepson said his Hinckley AFC side were collectively magnificent in their 5-0 win over Heath Hayes.
Jepson’s side made it two wins on the bounce with a comprehensive win over Heath Hayes, in which Grant Ryan took the headlines with four goals.
But Jepson said his side were outstanding from one to 11 – even though he felt they should have scored even more.
He said: “I’ve always said that when things started to click, we’d put our chances away and punish someone and today we did that.
“Being picky, we should have had more, but from one to 11 and the subs that went on, we were superb.
“We passed the ball well. Fair play to Heath Hayes, they changed things at half time and tried to have a go at us, but we responded well.
“Yes Grant’s scored in every game, but we’ve been on at him. We love him to pieces because we know he can do that. He deserved ut today because he was superb. He put his body on the line, he held it up better and took his goals well.”
Jepson feels his side have looked more fluid since half time against Chelmsley, and feels moving Tom Maddison into the centre of midfield has helped that.
“Tom’s a central midfielder, but through injuries and things not quite coming off for us, we asked him to do a job for us out wide.
“He’s probably got the most assists for us so far, he’s now moved back into central midfield and with Louis unavailable he was the captain too.
“He gave a captain’s performance. He passed the ball well, he talks and he organises.
“I thought him and the Ox (Jean Dakouri) complemented each other really well. Ox covered every blade of grass and Maddo hardly gave it away.”
The former Rugby Town boss also praised the duo making their first starts. He said Nkosi Mzungwana was magnificent on a day where he made three assists, and was also impressed with the way Martin Hutchcox came into the defence and said Racing Club Warwick’s loss is Hinckley’s gain.
Hutchcox also helped keep AFC’s first clean sheet of the season – and Jepson was pleased for the back line.
“Adam’s a loanee but he deserves that. He’s up for the Player of the Month for a reason. It’s about time the back four had a more comfortable day and it’s what we deserved.”
