Match Preview: Nuneaton Griff (h)

Manager John Ramshaw knows his Hinckley AFC side can’t underestimate Nuneaton Griff when they visit the Welfare Ground this evening.

After facing a higher level side and two top five sides, all away from home, in their last three games, Hinckley return to home comforts for the first time in five and a half weeks when Griff make the short journey to Ibstock tonight.

But despite their position just one from the bottom of the Midland League Division One, Ramshaw says getting three points on the board against Griff won’t be an easy task.

He said: “They (Griff) beat Littleton last week and we had a very competitive game at their place in August.

“To be totally honest they were the better side for large spells in that game, but a couple of moments of quality got us the win.

“I emphasised on Saturday how important this match is for getting us back on the right track. We’ve competed with the best teams in the league and now we’ve got to be totally professional against one of the sides who are struggling a bit.”

That win against Littleton ten days ago leapfrogged them above their opponents in the table, and they now sit two points clear of the bottom. That’s despite their record of having scored the fewest and conceded the most of any side in the division.

The sides previously met back in August, when Grant Ryan and Kieran Harrison scored as AFC overturned a 1-0 deficit to take all three points in their first win of the season.
