Match Preview: Wednesfield (h)

Hinckley AFC play the first of back-to-back weekend home games on Saturday with the visit of Wednesfield to Kirkby Road.

AFC are back on home turf for consecutive weekends after a run of four away days in five matches which ended with four straight wins.

Now they’ll look to continue that streak with the visit of a Wednesfield side who boast three former AFC players in their ranks.

After coming up against Dimitri Dunkley and Shaquille Lee in the reverse fixture, since then the West Midlands outfit have added Nathan Walker to their ranks from Wolves Sporting.

They’re currently on a run of three without defeat, a goalless draw with AFC Bridgnorth following up victories over Heath Hayes and Coton Green.

It’s meant they sit right on halfway in the table – 11th, with 11 wins and 12 defeats from their 32 matches and a flat goal difference to boot.

Dunkley is their leading scorer with 13, while Rhys Horton has chipped in with seven.

AFC were on a run of four consecutive wins when they lost away at Wednesfield in early September, with Joe Conneely keen to ensure that doesn’t happen again this time around.

He said: “That game was bad, really bad. We’re in a completely different place as a squad now to where we were then, we’ve got a much stronger and better squad now.

“It’ll be a different sort of game but they’re a tough team to play against and they’re in every game.

“Being back at home I’m confident we can win, but we’ve got to be good and got to move the ball quickly to do that.”

The match is subject to a 10.30am pitch inspection after the heavy snowfall this week – we’ll update supporters as soon as we get a result.
